Weekend of Preaching Assignments!

Grateful for the opportunity to preach God’s Word on Saturday at the Emmanuel Bapitst Mission on Sandoval Avenue. This is in Pasig near the big river in the direction of metro Manila. We saw 25+ people attend. It is on the upper floor of a grocery goods shipping warehouse. It was a joy to join hands in ministry with Pastor Joseph Blasco and his team. Pray as the Lord is blessing this outreach. While the services take place, they are also broadcast on speakers throughout the building and the loading docks too.

In addition, I brought the same message on Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist as well from 1 Corinthians 15:58, "The Marks of an Obedient & Faithful Servant.  It was a very timely and encouraging message to a congregation which is always looking to improve their service to the Lord.  Thanks for praying!

Weekend Visitor & Potential Training Ministry in Early 2018

Our good family friend Steven Mayo, who is also our Asia Pacific Director serving in Sydney, Australia, stopped in on the weekend.   Steve was on the last leg of a 2 week trip to conferences in Thailand and Cebu, plus visiting with missionaries along the way, before heading home to Sydney, Australia.

Steve told us that conversations with church leaders at the conference showed to him clearly that pastors are in desperate need of training for sermon prep (exegetical methods & expository preaching).  He was told exactly what we have heard from pastors too...namely that pastors get some training in exegesis and preaching skills in seminary, then they set it aside and never improve, opting for the quickest types of sermon prep possible.

Having not practiced nor developed in their skills that are vital for Bible interpretation and expository preaching, they are actually hurting the church with their sermons which lack gospel foundations.  Since so many other things are expected of them each week,  their sermon prep is last on the week's list. Thus, they turn to the sermons that others have already written and try to make it their own.  Or worse, they begin to use fads and gimmicks to generate excitement in the congregation, but it has no substance from the truth found in the gospel and God's Word.

Steve has proposed  a one-day training event for starters sometime early in 2018.  In this way we can expose pastors to solid methods of sermon prep and we can help to meet this obvious need.  Steve and I will seek to partner together in the training of these pastors through our Approved Workman Training Seminars (AWT).  Please pray with us about the details of this training endeavor in 2018 somewhere in the central islands of the Philippines. Thanks for praying!

Partners in a Generational Legacy

A premier verse related to passing on the baton of ministry to the next generation is 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Click on the Equip logo and you will be directed to our website to know more about the vital ministries we are involved with in Manila and beyond.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.
