New Seminary Semester Begins!

First day of 2nd semester registration at Baptist Bible Seminary was on November 6th. I found a few of my students still in line that afternoon preparing to register.

The young man in the middle forefront with glasses is Jan Kusain who has an amazing testimony of coming to faith in Christ out of a broken Muslim home and a story of great perseverance to make it to seminary even though family was against it and he was almost completely finished with an engineering degree.

He struggled and persisted in numerous jobs, including McDonald's, to work and save for seminary (thousands of pesos), then had to face the agony of the theft of all his seminary savings, not just once, but twice!

Following the loss of his second seminary savings, the Lord provided through a miraculous way for him to become a seminary student and fulfill his calling!  I hope to record his testimony soon, and some from other seminarians as well. Please pray for these dedicated seminarians, like Jan.

Semester classes begin for me on Tuesday with Baptist History class (45 students), Revelation (25) and Travel Epistles (20+).  It is actually good that there are less in Travel Epistles because it gives me a better opportunity to speak to them on a more personal and practical level.  This is the last semester for most students in that class as they will graduate this year and begin their year-long internship. Thanks for praying!

A Special Emmanuel Baptist Church Sunday!

A special Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Brother Yutaka preaching from Titus 2:11-14 on the importance of grace in our life which acts as an anchor in our walk of faith and a view towards the end times.

Younger men in the congregation are given opportunities to lead as seen here with Maoi Viguilla leading us in worship, Lance Dolores singing a solo, the EBC Choir blessing us in song.  We had a special visit from EBC's former worship leader Kuya Mario! He now lives and serves on the island of Palawan.

I’m substituting in College and Career Sunday School for a quarter and I’ve been amazed at how serious Maoi and other young people are about the Word of God. They are really hungry to know and live the truth.

Pray for me and the EBC Preachers' Fraternity as we prepare to speak in December with 5 Sunday messages from the "I AM" verses of Christ.  I will lead off on Dec. 3rd with an introductory message incorporating the Incarnation, but with a focus on Christ's declaration in John 14:6,
"And Jesus said, 'I AM the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but though Me."

The subsequent messages will be on His "I AM" declarations:  The Light of the World, The Bread of Life, The Door with The Good Shepherd, and finally, The Vine & the Vinedresser.  Thanks for praying!

Pray for EBC Pastors As They Lead

Please continue to pray for this congregation and for the pastors (Pastors Roi, Joseph and Vincent) as they lead this faithful congregation.

Pray too this week for Pastor Roi (shown at left praying with one of the EBC youth).  He has been ill for over a week. One brother told me he has pneumonia.

Some of the men who work in Metro Manila had the day off on Monday because of the political summit taking place there.  President Duterte is welcoming President Trump and others to the Philippines.  So, our EBC men took time on their day off to visit, encourage and pray with Roi.  Thanks for praying!

Partners in a Generational Legacy

A premier verse related to passing on the baton of ministry to the next generation is 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Click on the Equip logo and you will be directed to our website to know more about the vital ministries we are involved with in Manila and beyond.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.
