Walk Thru the Pentateuch - Session #2

Eleven EBC brothers joined me on Sunday afternoon to continue our survey of the Pentateuch and today’s emphasis was on Genesis. We had to cut our time short this week due to another ministry timing conflict, but in two weeks time we will resume our deeper look at key theological, exegetical and biblical concepts and principles found in Genesis before carrying on that same day with study and discussions about Exodus.

There’s an obvious camaraderie or mutual support developing amongst the men.  They are studying well their ministry verses, themes and key concepts found in these all important books. Please pray for that to continue. We are also talking about practical life issues arising from the gospel principles and biographical narrative stories found there. Following our study and discussions together we enjoyed homemade pizza, pancit and Korean kimbob!  Thanks for praying!

The Heart of Our Worship!

“A true worshipper single-mindedly offers his admiration and adoration to Jesus who is the Savior, the Servant and the Sustainer of life.” This was the big idea of the sermon as Brother Yutaka brought a message to Emmanuel Baptist today on “The Heart of Our Worship” using three selected verses from the gospels.

This was definitely one of Yutaka's best sermons and I’m so thankful for the Lord using this brother’s dedication to preparation with much time spent on observation and contemplation of the passage. In two weeks time I will be following up with a sermon on “The Heart in Our Worship”. Thanks for praying!

Preachers Encouraging One Another!

Fantastic time of preachers fellowshipping together on Monday evening! We discussed a wide range of things including upcoming sermon schedules + calendar, practical aspects of sermon prep and delivery, microphones, speaker systems, power points and praying about direction and wisdom for next year’s preaching schedule. Plus, we spent time mutually encouraging and praying for one another.  I praise the Lord that I am associated with these men of God. Thanks for praying!

First PABWE Missionaries to PNG!

Our Philippines country leader Steve Mayo reports that for the first time a PABWE missionary couple will serve in Papua New Guinea (PNG)!  ABWE has been serving here in the Philippines since 1927 (ie: 91 years!)!  In fact it was the first field that ABWE opened up and sent missionaries to.

Along the way of course there have been many churches planted, educational institutions established and training programs created.  All of these are now directed by Filipino leadership.  One of the organizations, which was handed over to Filipino leadership was the establishment of PABWE (Philippine Association of Baptists for World Evangelism).

Of course over these many decades, Filipino believers have been sent out as missionaries, but now for the first time a PABWE Filipino missionary couple has been designated to serve in Papua New Guinea (PNG)!

Lord willing, Pastor Jalen and Angie Guillergan will depart for their first term of service in PNG in mid-2019.  Let us pray for them and rejoice together at this landmark moment as this faithful Filipino missionary couple follows the Lord's calling upon their life to begin their long-term career service in PNG.  Thanks for praying!

Visit www.EquipAsia.net & Learn More!

The Philippine Islands are known as the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.

Since many of those who graduate from the seminary here are now serving around the Philippines, as well as throughout Asia and beyond, then it seems fitting to change our website name to reflect it.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.

It is titled EQUIP! since that is what we do, but also it is now known as www.EquipAsia.net
