Volunteer Opportunities & Award Scheme

Last year, young adults aged S4 - S6 did over 700 hours of volunteering in the Jewish Community! Youth are making a huge contribution to Glasgow and deserved to be recognised for all of their hard work.

With that in mind, UJIA is launching an award scheme which will allow young leaders to track the hours they are doing and receive and award at the end of the year marking their achievements.

Read below to learn more about the upcoming opportunities and how the award scheme will work. Please note that additional opportunities may arise during the year, so sign up for our general volunteering list if you would like to hear about those.

Best,
The UJIA Glasgow Team

Submitting Hours

You can track your volunteer hours within the Jewish Community by submitting this easy Google Form each month: https://goo.gl/forms/Qsmc11nDO0xpWHZi1
The form will ask for you to detail how many hours you volunteered, a breakdown of where those hours were spent and a contact for each place you volunteered at so we can verify them.

Award Levels

Highest Volunteer Hours – Special Award for the person who has volunteered the most hours
Gold – For those that complete more than 50 hours of volunteering within the Jewish Community
Silver – For those that complete between 30 and 50 hours of volunteering within the Jewish Community
Bronze – For those that complete between 10 to 30 hours of volunteering within the Jewish Community
Recognition – For those that complete under 10 hours of volunteering within the Jewish Community

Additional Info

• For reference:  Volunteering all 5 days of Summer Scheme alone earns you 43 hours and a Silver level award.
• Other organisations not listed can count: If you lead Habo Ken or FZY Chevruta, if you volunteer with Guides or Jewish Care Scotland, if you volunteer at the WIZO Bazaar, those all count
• The year is considered to be between September 2018 and July 2019
• This is specifically for any volunteering done within the Scottish Jewish Community

Award Name

Right now, this is called the Volunteer Award Scheme but I think there's probably a better title out there, don't you? Help us out with creating a great, prestigious sounding name for this award by submitting your ideas here: https://goo.gl/forms/qqADN5rtPxYOVT5X2
