EBC Preachers' Fellowship!

We are excited to share that last Monday night began regular meetings for our Emmanuel Baptist Preachers' Fellowship.  We met at a local restaurant for fellowship, sharing insights & observations about our preaching craft, and future plans over dinner and coffee.  It's designed to encourage, resource and pray for one another regularly. We also recently began an EBC Preachers' Fellowship FB group for ourselves and that too has been a source of mutual encouragement.

These are some amazing brothers!  They are like "Barnabas" for me here; each in their own way.   I hope I am a "son of encouragement" to them as well.  We have a lot of fun together!

We will meet Monday nights for awhile.  We talked over some upcoming teaching plans at Emmanuel Baptist on Wednesday nights. Our EBC Ministry Enrichment Seminar has to be postponed and rescheduled, which provides us with more time to get the rest of the resources donated and sent over for the event. If you can  help with that, please see the update below.  Please continue to pray for us, Yutaka, Roi, Joseph and Vincent! Also, Pastor Erril and Pastor Rey will join us.  Thanks for praying!

The Heart of the Matter IS the Heart!

I am grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to preach yesterday on a theme pertinent to Happy Hearts Day at Emmanuel Baptist Church (St. Valentine's Day in the US).

I preached from Ephesians 5:1-2, ’The Heart of the Matter IS the Heart‘, with a focus was on the commands to "become imitators of God" and "walking in love just as Christ loved us". Please pray for the brothers & sisters of Emmanuel Baptist to contemplate these commands and the example of Christ's love and to be obedient in their pursuit of godliness and walk of love.  Thanks for praying!

February is Missionary Anniversary Month for Us!

We are grateful to the Lord that 29 years ago this month we were commissioned as church planting missionaries to serve in the newly opened country of Czechoslovakia.  I am grateful to my lovely lady who served with me there, all these years since then and even now so faithfully.  Grateful too for our kids having that experience of growing up internationally even though it was hard being away from family.  It was a sacrifice for everyone really, but better to follow the Lord's will than to not, and it was clearly His calling on our lives.

This picture was taken just before we traveled there in October 1992 with Tiffany (5)  and Kevin (2) and with Jason on the way!  We praise the Lord that He used us there.  Two new churches were borne in Brno because of the team of missionaries and nationals the Lord pulled together.  We count it to be all for His glory!

The other photos below were from a furlough visit to our good friends, Curt and Helen Scott and their lovely daughter Madison, in Cambria, CA.  That has always been for us one of the places of renewal on every furlough.

Also, this month is our 10 year anniversary as missionaries with ABWE and our 5 year anniversary of serving in Manila in theological education & MK education. Below you can see photos of us at an ABWE training conference in 2010, as well as with Kelly and Kaitlyn towards the end of our first term here in 2016.

Even now, as we did then, we are trusting the Lord to use us for His purposes to equip His people in His Church and to witness the gospel to the unsaved.  We stand upon the truth of such verses as Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will answer you and I will show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” Thanks for praying!

Can You Sponsor a Training Resource(s)?

Our Emmanuel Baptist Ministry Enrichment Seminar has to be postponed and rescheduled.  BUT, this gives us opportunity to finish raising the resources for the attendees and perhaps get them sent here in time.  Those which have already been donated are being collected so that all can be sent together when we reach the goal.  We now have the following tally for the 3 seminar resources:

~  NKJV Holman Study Bibles (Large Print/Imitation Leather) - 8 donated (7 more to go!)
~  Spiritual Depression by Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones - 3 donated (11 more to go!)
~  Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, by Dr. Mark Dever - 5 donated (9 more to go!)

If you can help us by sponsoring a book or books for the training of those who serve in this church and its church plants & outreaches, then please click the button below.  If you want to just purchase them from Amazon without using the Amazon list, then you can have the book or books shipped to:  Jonathan Stout, 38065 Murrieta Creek Dr., Murrieta CA 92562.

(PS - this works best from a laptop/desktop browser or iPad...it's having troubles from an iPhone).  Thank you for your help in training God's people in the Philippines!

Partnering for a Generational Legacy!

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

Out of 2 Timothy 2:2 we find a premier related to the passing of the baton of ministry to the next generation... "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

We are presently down in support by about 5% of our pledged monthly needs, which is common after arriving to the mission field again even after a long and fruitful furlough.  To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Click on the Equip logo and you will be directed to our website to know more about the vital ministries we are involved with in Manila and beyond.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.  Click on the button to see my new ministry blog..."THRIVE!".
