Back from a Special 3-week Trip to CA!

It is with great joy in our hearts to have been able to visit CA and see family and friends during that time. It was an awesome time! It's never enough time!

We caught up with friends in SoCal, while staying with our friends the Stout family.  We spent good time with my family at my mom's house in Banning, before, during and after Christmas!  We were able to spend time with my brother and his wife, and my sister's family too. They have had to carry much of the heavy load with my mom's rehabilitation from heart surgery and have done a great job, but we were at least glad we could help during this short visit. Mom's friend Wayne has been there for her all along the way too and a big encouragement to the family!

Jason and Kelly flew from Liberty University to SoCal during the break on 12/19 and were with us the whole time.  We also were able to see Jason and Tiffany Hanson and our grandsons Maverick, Greyson and Caedmon after immediately arriving at SF International (just 2 days) and then from December 27th to January 5th.  The Lord provided Kim and I a place to stay through a wonderful couple in Vallejo, Bob and Janice Baker. Jason and Kelly stayed with Tiffany's family in Crockett.  We were also able to visit with Jason Hanson's family (the Stanicks and Petits) for a special New Year's Eve seafood feast! In addition, we met with Kim's parents in Vacaville for a special lunch to catch up with them.

We realize that our sacrifice as missionaries for all these years (almost 29 years now), has also been a sacrifice for our families and friends because we are so far apart.  Yet, there is a special blessing for when we do come back together...a family reunion, yet more of them! In light of the separation, one could look at this sort of life as all negative, yet we've taken the approach over the years, teaching our children the same, that it is just different and can be a great adventure...one that isn't so status quo. Yes there are trade-offs, yet, It is a matter of perspective and of finding contentment with gratefulness for what time we are actually able to have together.

We would ask you to pray for our families and friends who struggle with our being away!  We would also ask you to pray for Kim and I as we have returned to Manila with sickness from CA and have to get right into our teaching/training roles.  Thanks so much for praying and praise the Lord with us for His provisions for us as we were in California!

O&P Fund Goal Reached!

Through 25 supporters, the Lord provided ALL (more than all, actually) the $15,000 needed for our Outfitting & Passage fund BEFORE the end of 2017.  We are deeply thankful humbled by this and thanking the Lord for those who prayed and those who were able to give to this fund in 2017.  This fund provided and continues to provide, for expenses on the field like visa costs (still ongoing), flights, moving expenses and a used ministry vehicle.  It gives a great sense of joy to know that the Lord is providing such a team of churches and individuals to pray and support what we are doing here.

It would be easy to think that because much of the church planting work in the Philippines has been handed over to Filipino churches and believers, then this means there is no longer a need for missionaries in this country.  Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, there seems to be more to do now than ever before in all directions of ministry.  Our slice of it is focused on training and educating those who will serve in Christ's church tomorrow!  Praise the Lord with us for His provisions to our needs!  Ask the Lord to lead a new generation of believers into long-term missions work in the Philippines!  Thanks for praying!

Gaining on the ME Seminar Resources Goal!

An Amazon List has been set up so that our supporters can sponsor the training of pastors and lay leaders in Manila.  Our Emmanuel Baptist Church will hold its first ever Ministry Enrichment Seminar in February and we want to provide the trainees with some resources to help them fulfill their calling in ministry.

We just today we received word of the second of the study Bibles we need having been purchased.  We have now received:
~ 2 NASB Holman Study Bibles (13 to go!),
~ 1 Spiritual Depression by Dr. Lloyd-Jones (14 to go!), and
~ 3 Nine Marks of a Healthy Church by Dr. Dever (12 to go!)
The goal is 15 of each as soon as possible - it takes sending them to Manila!

If you can provide one or more of the resources to help us train pastors and lay leaders, then click on the button below.  It will show you the list and you can choose from there. Don't try to access with a mobile phone as there's something not quite right there.  Please use a laptop or desktop browser instead.  The purchased books or books will be sent by Amazon to our good friend and supporter Jonathan Stout, who is our point person for the resources.  Thanks so much for your help in this training effort!

Partnering for a Generational Legacy!

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

Out of 2 Timothy 2:2 we find a premier related to the passing of the baton of ministry to the next generation... "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

We are presently down in support by about 5% of our needs, which is common after arriving to the mission field again even after a long and fruitful furlough.  To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.  Click on the button to see my new ministry blog..."THRIVE!".
