Hello ,
Last week the PA Liberty Alliance continued our Property Tax Independence road show with a stop in Hershey, which lies on the edge of the 15th Senatorial District. Sen. Rob Teplitz represents this district, but he isn’t representing the wishes of his constituents on the property tax issue. He voted “no” not once, but twice on school property tax elimination.
As always, I gave an informational presentation (courtesy of David Baldinger) about how problematic the property tax is, as well as the merits of SB/HB 76. Part of my presentation dispelled the tired old half-truths and outright lies Sen. Teplitz and the opposition continue to use. Even though he was invited to tell us why he voted against our grassroots bill, he decided to send us a written statement instead.

It appears as though Sen. Teplitz’ solution to the property tax problem is a bill that would automatically enroll more people in the Homestead/Farmstead exemption, which is yet another failed Harrisburg program that promised us a solution by providing “relief” from the casino gambling revenue. Property taxpayers across the state already regard the program as a joke, but yet Rob’s answer is to make the already tiny relief even smaller by making sure more people enroll.
He also says he supports other measures that would only give “targeted relief” to certain groups that government gets to pick and choose. This, of course, would leave the rest of us to make up the difference with an even larger property tax burden.
The beauty of SB 76 is that it EXPANDS the tax base rather than shrink it like Sen. Teplitz wants to do. It also
treats all taxpayers exactly the same. No more government picking winners and losers based on where you live, or some other arbitrary factor like the current system does.
The good news is that 15th Senatorial District candidate John DiSanto did show up to explain his position and take questions from the crowd. John got a great response when he publicly pledged his support for SB/HB 76 and school property tax elimination.

Candidate John DiSanto came to Hershey to see the SB 76 presentation, and to publicly declare his support. Sen. Teplitz did not attend.

WGAL TV 8 was also on hand and we thank them for covering this extremely important issue that is too often overlooked by the media.

More good news is that both PA Liberty Alliance and PCTA’s Jim Rodkey have been involved in meetings with the governor and his staff about school property tax elimination. We are the first grassroots organizations that have been in discussions with any Pennsylvania governor about this issue, and this is a direct result of our never-ending determination and our tireless work to spread the truth about SB 76 and the damaging effects of the property tax.
We also had a special surprise with the appearance of “The Godfather” of the property tax elimination movement, David Baldinger! David came as a spectator to the very presentation and grassroots effort that he began over a decade ago, but it wasn’t long before he was standing with Jim Rodkey and me during the Q&A segment! It was great to see David getting back into the fight after taking some time off to battle
some health issues. You just can’t keep a good man down!

With your help and donations, we have managed to not only keep this 100% volunteer, 100% grassroots effort alive, but we’ve been moving the ball forward. Our opposition can’t understand how we manage to do it without writing campaign checks or kissing the rings of the legislators.
Our next stop is in Newport this Wednesday, November 2nd at the Newport Fire Company, located at 301 Mulberry St. Doors open at 6:15 PM and there is no charge for admission. Please consider coming out to see the presentation or making a donation to the cause. We need your help to continue this effort in other areas of the state.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ron Boltz President-PA Liberty Alliance
P.S. Don’t forget to tell Sen. Teplitz to stop listening to the PSEA who has given him over $100,000 in campaign contributions.
Tell him we’re tired of special interest influence in Harrisburg and we demand that he act in the best interest of homeowners for a change. Tell him to change his two “no” votes on school property tax elimination.
