Seminary's 95th Foundation Anniversary Celebration! November 2025 marks the 95th Foundation Anniversary of Baptist Bible Seminary & Institute! Please prevail mightily in prayer for this vital ministry as we continue to train leadership for the churches being planted and established throughout the Philippine Islands and into Asia!
The motto for this academic year is "NO RESERVES, NO REGRETS", which is based on Paul's testimony before the Ephesian elders as to his work for the gospel. It is a fitting passage for this work. The longevity of this ministry is a testimony of the Lord's grace. We can clearly echo Paul's words "...the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God"! Please pray over the list of upcoming events, above, that they will have a widespread influence on the churches and people of God!
Thanks for praying!

Preachers Small Group with EBC Pulpit MinistryTeam! In years past I have had the privilege of serving in the pulpit ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC) alongside their team of preachers. We used to meet rather regularly at a local coffee shop on Monday or Tuesday evenings for encouragement, prayer and discussion of the "nuts & bolts" of expository sermon prep and delivery! I miss those times a lot! I suppose those times and these men were on my mind when the Lord led me to an idea on how to continue these sorts of interactions with the EBC preachers small group!
I learned about and attended a mini-conference entitled "On Expository Preaching". It was sponsored by Twin City Bible Church in Winston-Salem, NC on October 24th. Dr. Rick Holland was the featured speaker (see his profile below). His seminars
were to be recorded and archived, which gave me the idea to try and make a further impact amongst my preaching brothers at Emmanuel Baptist in Manila!
Brother Yutaka Matsumoto, my good friend and the EBC chairman of the deacon board, has agreed to spearhead the details for our EBC Preachers Small Group on his end. These band of preaching brothers will take time either as a group or individually to watch and glean from one seminar at a time. Then, on a designated day we will all "come together", meaning they will gather at EBC and I will "join them" via a Zoom call! The different timezones are a factor which we must consider! We will look to encourage and edify one another as preachers using Dr. Holland's messages. Pray for us as we hope to pull together the first of these before Thanksgiving!
Thanks for praying!

Pray for the Men of the Seminary's Board of Trustees!
I have been privileged to work with this team of men for 8 years, since 2017! This was way beyond a normal span of service as a BoT member. However, it was clearly necessary and due to the turmoil brought on by, first, the Covid shutdown and then the passing to glory of three key BoT leaders: one served as our seminary president (died in 2020), one was our BoT chairman (died in 2021) and finally a key member (also in 2021)!
It has been such a thrill for me to serve with alongside and learn from these men! My mandatory one year break from the Board of Trustees began last July. However, I am still a member of the seminary's corporate board representing our mission agency. This is the committee which oversees all things of the seminary and quite connected to building projects, renovations and the maintaining of strong relationships with the many
churches.
Pray for the men of our seminary's Board of Trustees, which handles the majority of regular seminary plans, issues and decisions. This includes issues related to the city, which wants to constantly encroach on the seminary's property. On top of all this, the city has been building an elevated train right up the center of the street in front of the seminary from downtown Manila. Also, a train station will probably be built right in front of the seminary property. It's quite a huge project!
Pray for the leadership of our present BoT chairman, Attorney Peter Castillo, who has provided an incredible stability to the whole situation these past few years! Additionally, he provided much needed leadership in the search for our new seminary president, Dr. David Sera-Josef. These leaders have clearly been a gift from God at a crucial time!
Thanks

Urgent Call! Relief Efforts After Typhoons & Earthquakes! Please prevail mightily in prayer for the people of the Philippines and the relief efforts following the many typhoons, floods and earthquakes in the recent months. Additionally, volcanoes are being watched closely as Taal volcano, which sits just 70 miles south of Manila, has been erupting again! The seminary has been garnering relief efforts and providing ministry efforts in the areas most effected. Pray the Lord will protect all these people and use it all to His glory!
Thanks for praying!

Please Pray and Join Our Support Team The Lord is graciously allowing us to continue this work of teaching, training, mentoring and equipping a new generation of Filipinos for His church! We really are equipping our seminarians to answer the calling to serve in local churches and ministries as well as abroad into Asia and beyond!
As we pray we can rejoice that our seminarians graduate to fulfill their calling, with approximately... ~~ 80% pursuing pastoral church ministry or teaching, ~~ 10% serving in NGOs or Non-Church Ministries & ~~ 10% serving as missionaries (most of them in Cambodia)!
But it is not just about the degrees and academics. Just this week I was able to go beyond the classroom assignments and, by way of email, counsel with several of my seminarians who have been
seriously struggling due to ongoing family problems, recovering after a difficult hospital stay or battling against spiritual depression.
I was able to direct them to God's Word to help them with such passages as in Rom. 8:28; Phil. 1:6; Eph. 6; 2 Cor. 10:5 & 2 Peter 1:5-11. We communicated at length about the symptoms of spiritual depression, which are brought on by various trials ... not the least of which are the many natural disasters they must endure!
Ours is a faith mission and after almost 37 years as missionaries with a vibrant support team we have seen much of Lord's faithfulness in helping us maintain this team.
We are asking the Lord at this time to add to our support team at least: ~~ 10 or more new monthly supporters at $100 = $1000/month! ~~ 10 new one-time donation donors for totaling $5000 or more!
Based on the
Lord's faithfulness already we believe this is truly possible! Will you prevail in prayer with us for this? Thanks for praying and for supporting!
