Praise the Lord! Enrollment is Climbing Every Semester!
The Lord graciously continues to use us in this vital work of teaching and training a new generation of Filipinos for His church! I count it as quite a privilege to be trusted and tasked by the seminary leadership to equipping and mentoring our seminarians as they answer the call to serve in Christ's church.
Every semester we've been seeing an increase in enrollment! This is clearly due in part to the ministries of our seminary's chorale teams and Bible preaching/teaching teams who visit churches throughout the islands, especially each summer and at semester breaks. Pray that students will remain diligent in their studies and that they will experience the benefits of being shaped by their training into faithful servants.
In the Philippines the school year goes from July to April. I have been privileged to teach our
seminarians in key courses during the 2025-2026 school year in the Book of Romans, Old Testament Wisdom Books, Contextual Theology, Practical Theology, The Gospels & Biblical Theology. These classes are crucial for our seminarians as they prepare for ministry in Christ's church.
MINISTRY MOMENTS WITH STUDENTS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM! In addition to these things, pray also for students to be strengthened in the midst of trials they are facing. Several are struggling with spiritual depression and recently sought my counsel beyond classroom assignments on issues of fear (Psalm 34:4; Rom. 8:26), right and biblical thinking during difficult circumstances (Phil. 4:8; Gal. 5:16) and how the Lord uses trials to strengthen our character and faith (Eph. 6:10ff; 2 Pet. 1:5-11 & Phil. 1:6).
We communicated at length about the symptoms of spiritual depression due to these various trials. Pray for the students as they wrestle with remorse about past actions (aka: vain regrets), fear of the future and feelings versus faith during trials!
Some students are finding it hard to focus on their studies while knowing the recent
typhoons, floods and earthquakes have affected family, friends and fellow church members. Others are struggling as they recover from an illness and a hospital stay!
During Practical Theology this past year I assigned a study through Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones' messages on "Spiritual Depression: Its Causes and its Cure". Due to the recent upswing in these counseling moments, I have reiterated to them the importance of the study of His trustworthy Word. Please pray they will stand firm (Eph. 6:10-18) in the battle and depend on the Lord's Spirit (Rom. 8:26; Gal. 5:16).
HOW OUR SEMINARIANS TEND TO FULFILL THEIR CALLING UPON GRADUATING! I recently inquired of Antonio Yadao, our seminary's VP of Academic Affairs, where our seminarians tend to serve upon graduation and he had already determined the following... ~~ 80% pursuing pastoral church ministry or teaching! ~~ 10% serving in NGOs or Non-Church Ministries! ~~ 10% serving as missionaries (the "hotspot" for missions remains Cambodia)!
Please pray with us for our students and according to the passages and details mentioned above. Thanks for praying!

Seminary's Inspiring Chorale Teams Concert!
In November the BBSI Chorale Concert was held leading up to the 95th Founding Anniversary of the Seminary. It has been reported as an incredible and exciting event which is indicative of the seminary's continued influence among the music ministries of the many churches in the Philippines!
The following was a posted testimony about the event: "What a night of beautiful harmony at the BBSI Chorale Concert at the chapel! It featured the inspiring words from Pastor Nathan Potter and Rev. Jared Mongcal, the seminary chorale's conductor. Additionally, the beautiful voice of Pastor Jei-l Albino was unforgettable!"
Please pray the Lord will continue to use events like these to bring glory to Himself. What a tremendous moment for the students, alumni & faculty! Thanks for praying!
