2020 BC Winter Games wrap up in Fort St. John After four days of exciting action, the 2020 BC Winter Games wrapped up today in Fort St John. Over 1,000 athletes competed in 15 sports at venues throughout Fort St. John and the North Peace Regional District, representing their home zones with determination and pride.
Fort St. John lived up to its hospitable reputation, staging a high quality event for British Columbia‘s emerging high performance athletes. A volunteer force of over 2,000 people worked tirelessly throughout the event to ensure the best possible experience for everyone involved
The BC Winter Games concluded with the Closing Ceremony where athletes' accomplishments were celebrated and coaches, officials and volunteers contributions were recognized.

Benjamin Konwicki wins the W.R. Bennett Award for Athletic Excellence Prince George speed skater Benjamin Konwicki was presented with the W.R. Bennett Award for Athletic Excellence by Alison Noble, President and CEO of the BC Games Society and Jamey Paterson, Chair of the BC Games Society Board of Directors during the Fort St. John 2020 BC Winter Games Closing Ceremony on Sunday, February 23.
Benjamin was a strong competitor at the BC Winter Games, earning a gold
medal in the 7 lap ISU Mass Start Boys Long Track, bronze in the 500m Olympic Style Boys Long Track, two silver medals in the 400m Boys Short Track and 2000m Point Race Boys Short Track, and helped his team to a fourth place finish in the 3000m Relay Boys Short Track.

BC Winter Games Athletes Recognized with Leadership Bursary 16 outstanding youth leaders were recognized with a Coast Capital Savings Leadership Bursary at the Closing Ceremony of the 2020 BC Winter Games in Fort St. John.
The bursary recipients were chosen from close to 100 applicants for their significant achievements in sport and education and most importantly for their leadership contributions to their schools, community, or sport associations. The recipients are from communities across the province and their leadership involvement includes service with student councils,
community events, food banks, fundraising, coaching, and officiating, to name a few.

As the city gears up for the Maple Ridge 2020 BC Summer Games we're looking to you to get involved! Thousands of volunteers will be required from July 23-26 in a variety of areas.
