Tri-Cities Newcomer Employment Week returns on November 18- 22, 2019!

Newcomers are invited to meet and network with employers and service providers. This year’s theme is on the Importance of Workplace Culture. Learn how workplace culture plays a key role in an organization’s recruitment process.

Start the week at Coquitlam City Centre Public Library on November 18 from 10 am – 3pm with workshops, employer panels, resume clinics & speed networking with employers.

The rest of the week is dedicated for newcomers to meet employers at Workplace Tours. Jobseekers will be invited to workplaces from a variety of different sectors across the Tri-Cities to meet with employers, learn about the different roles in their organization and their recruitment process.

Volunteer as Visual Art & Dance Classroom Assistants this Fall

Place des Arts seeks reliable volunteers for weekly visual arts and dance classes. You should enjoy working with kids, have a fair level of artistic skill/knowledge, and must make a strong commitment to coming to the class each and every week, as teachers and students rely on the volunteer's help each class.

Ma Murray Day at Anmore

Maillardville Open House 

The annual Open House event celebrates the arrival of the first train passengers to Maillardville and this year is the 20th anniversary of Mackin House being open to the public as a museum. On September 21, join the Francophone community for train station & museum tours, crafts, treats, quilt sewing and sock knitting demonstrations and the world folk music sounds of Kouskous.

Windmill's Mentorship Program 

To better support clients in achieving professional success, Windmill Microlending has launched a new Mentorship Program.

The program will help mentees navigate the Canadian labour market and provide necessary skills and tools to help them find employment that matches their skills, experience and education

Family Learn & Play

Family Learn & Play is a monthly family literacy event co-sponsored by the Coquitlam School District (SD43), the Tri-Cities Literacy Committee, the Tri-Cities Early Childhood Development Committee, Coquitlam Public Libraries, and Coquitlam Centre. Children aged 3 to 10 years old are invited to complete a variety of early learning activities. Children will be given a bookmark upon arrival and stickers upon completing activities. Once they receive 6 stickers, they will receive a free book. Parents and caregivers are welcome to explore the wide range of community services and resources provided. Click here to learn more. 

The Migrant Worker Hub

The Migrant Worker Hub is a component of the project “Building Capacity to Support BC’s Migrant Workers”. This website is a centralized hub of resources and tools to enhance the knowledge and capacity of individuals, employers, unions, professional associations and other organizations supporting migrant workers in British Columbia.

The purpose of this Migrant Worker Hub is to provide content that contributes to improving the working and living conditions of migrant workers and to exchange knowledge with organizations, employers and staff. Visit the site for more info.
