Richard Stickel Wins 2019 Coach of the Year Award

Congratulations to BC Games volunteer and friend of the Games Richard Stickel, head coach of the Fort St. John Elks Speed Skating Club, on being named Competition Coach of the Year for viaSport‘s 2019 Coach of the Year Awards. Unfortunately, the award presentation was postponed due to the pandemic, however recipients were announced by viaSport during National Coaches Week on September 22, 2020.

LeadForward Grant: Advancing Balanced Representation in Sport

The LeadForward Grant: Advancing Balanced Representation in Sport aims to strengthen balanced leadership for female coaches, officials or organizational staff throughout B.C. by supporting their training, education, and policy development opportunities.

This grant through viaSport will fund up to $5,000 to local, multi or provincial sport organizations for training, educational or policy development activities that advance leadership opportunities for female leaders in sport.

Applications will be accepted until 11:59PM PST on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

Biennial Provincial Sport Organization meeting goes virtual!

On October 28, 2020, the BC Games Society met with its Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) and Disability Sport Organization (DSO) partners to discuss the Games and the important working relationship between organizations. All 36 organizations involved in the BC Winter and BC Summer Games were represented in the Society‘s first ever virtual sport organization meeting.

From thousands to millions! Growing funds mean more benefits for Quesnel

Twenty years later, the Quesnel Community Foundation has turned their $50,000 legacy from the 2000 BC Winter Games into approximately $3.1 million from matched donations, distributed as scholarships, bursaries and grants that enrich the entire community.

New Dates Announced for the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games

The Canada Games Council and Niagara Host Society are pleased to announce that the Canada Summer Games in Niagara have been officially rescheduled for August 6-21, 2022.
