Seminary Celebrating it's 95th Year of Training God's People!
In the midst of the aftermath of Typhoon Wipha in late July and August, plus monsoon conditions of high & widespread floods, Baptist Bible Seminary & Institute is in the midst of its 95th year of training a new generation of God's people for service!
Enrollment has increased and there is a tangible excitement and eagerness coming from students! I have the privilege of continuing to provide core courses designed to prepare seminarians to answer the calling on their life and serve as pastor-theologians, preachers, shepherds and missionaries!
Our VP of Academic Affairs, Antonio Yadao has commissioned my work, alongside the pastoral ministry department, that we may meet the need of training our seminarians.
Some of those courses, which I have been tasked to create, administer and teach in an internet-friendly format are...
- Contextual Theology, Practical Theology, OT Poetry & Wisdom Books,
- The Gospels, Book of Romans, Historical Theology, Biblical Theology,
- Baptist History & Disctinctives, Book of Revelation and Bible Customs & Culture.
My favorite tends to be practical theology, which I intersperse in all my classes. A little-known, yet highly influential, Belgian theologian of the 1700s, Petrus van Mastricht, stated this about practical theology, “The study of theology, to the extent that it is true theology, is not sufficient, unless . . . it is earnestly devoted to practical theology and to practice."
Pray for me and my seminarians as they answer a calling on their lives to serve Christ somewhere in the Philippines, Asia or elsewhere in the world. Pray their seminary training will give them all they need to serve well in biblical wisdom & excellence.

- 24 seminarians graduated last May!
- Presently, 30 students are in our Theological Extension Program (TEE) in 5 different locations around Manila & training for Expository Preaching, Apologetics and Missions.
- Some of these extension courses are taught by pastors (graduates of the seminary) and some by our faculty members.

"Prayer is beyond any question the highest activity of the human soul. Man is at his greatest and highest when upon his knees he comes face to face with God."
This inspires us to remain diligent to follow Christ's example, remembering that it is written of Him that He withdrew to a solitary place, often up on a mountain or into the wilderness, in order to pray! Thanks for praying!

Pray for "Courageous" Seminar!

Pray for the People of the Philippines Amidst of the Floods!
The effects of the combination of Typhoon Wipha and torrential monsoon conditions in late July into August have had a devastating effect on Manila and the Philippines! These floods effect the seminary by forcing days of interruption to the schedule in the midst of the chaos. Rainy season tends to wreak havoc on studying, schedules & deadlines.
Pray for the people of the Philippines! Pray specifically for our seminarians and faculty members as they try to cope with these incredible interruptions and continue to remain on track with their studies and practical ministry opportunities.
