BC Games Society Seeking Games Marketing Coordinator

The Games Marketing Coordinator works with a team of colleagues to help volunteers manage the BC Winter Games, the BC Summer Games, and Team BC. Strong written and verbal communications skills together with basic graphic design and video production skills will be assets for this position. Applications with a resume and cover letter will be accepted until Monday, March 15, 2021 at 4:30 pm PST via email only at application@bcgames.org.

Applications Open for the Maple Ridge 2020 BC Summer Games Legacy Fund

The provincial government, through the BC Games Society, is supporting sport and community development projects in Maple Ridge with $125,000 in legacy funds. The Maple Ridge 2020 BC Summer Games Legacy Fund Committee has opened the application process for local sport organizations so they may apply for legacy funding for their upcoming projects and programs that aim to benefit local sport and athletes in Maple Ridge. 

Legacy funds will be distributed to projects that have a lasting impact to sport and community wellness. Applications will be considered from all non-profit sport organizations and/or governing bodies that meet the criteria. The application deadline is March 31, 2021. Nine BC Games Alumni Represent Canada at the 2021 FIS Junior World and U23 Championships

In December, Nordiq Canada announced its FIS Junior World and U23 Championships athletes for 2021, which took place in Lahti and Vuokatti, Finland, from February 6-13. The BC Games is proud to share that out of the 20 Canadian athletes who qualified, 9 are from BC and all competed at the BC Winter Games. Nordic Canada chose 20 athletes, 10 for World Junior‘s and 10 for U23‘s, with five women and five men per category. Bringing cross-country skiers together from all over the world, the championships feature over 400 athletes from over 35 different countries.

Wheelchair Basketball Club Coming to Fort St. John

The 2020 BC Winter Games in Fort St. John left a substantial financial legacy which was invested in local sport organizations as well as a number of community programs. As part of this legacy, we are excited to share that $3,550 in 2020 BC Winter Games legacy funds are going to Northern Adapted Sports Association to start a wheelchair basketball club in Fort St. John.

To celebrate Black History Month, the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games Host Society highlighted the incredible achievements of Team BC alumna and Canada Games gold medallist, Shanice Marcelle. Read Marcelle's story to learn how she is supporting the next generation by providing young Black women the opportunity to see themselves in her position, inspiring them to dream big and achieve great things.
