Board of Directors selected for Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games

The City of Prince George’s Nomination Committee for the 2022 BC Summer Games has officially appointed the Games’ Board of Directors, which will be responsible for organizing the Games. Prince George resident Renee McCloskey has been appointed Board President. Ms. McCloskey participated in the BC Games in water-skiing from 1983 to 1995 and was a member of the Board for the BC Games Society from 2008 to 2014. Selen Alpay, owner/operator of the Prince George Canadian Tire store, has been appointed Vice-President.

BC Games Society seeking an Event Manager and a Marketing and Engagement Manager

The BC Games Society is seeking qualified candidates to fill two roles:
- Event Manager
- Marketing and Engagement Manager

The Marketing and Engagement Manager provides marketing and communications expertise for the Society to maximize exposure opportunities locally, provincially, and nationally and works directly with volunteers to manage components of the BC Winter and BC Summer Games and Team BC. 

The Event Manager (Summer Games) will work closely with colleagues to provide event management services for the BC Summer Games and Team BC.

Applications with a resume and cover letter will be accepted until Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 4:30 pm PST.

Roger Skillings, former BC Games Society CEO, inducted into Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame

On May 3, 2021, the Board of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2021. Among the four inductees is former BC Games Society CEO and honourary Board Member, Roger Skillings.

Roger held his post as CEO of the BC Games from 1988 until the spring of 1999. During his tenure, he developed a model for sport hosting excellence which endures to this day. He fine tuned the community legacy policy, ensuring every BC Winter or BC Summer Games saw a return on their Games hosting – translating into wide-spread benefit that is seen and felt in past-host communities to this day.

The Greater Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games Society (the “Host Society”) invites proposals from qualifying companies within Greater Vernon to become the official Merchandise Licensee for the 2022 BC Winter Games.
