In addition to sharing updates from the Park Board, this tool was created as a platform for our Park Partners and Stewards to learn about what is happening in our parks and connect with each other.
Send us an email to parkstewards@vancouver.ca with any comments, feedback, articles, etc. to be featured in the upcoming editions of the newsletter! To share your work and events, please be aware of the following dates:
- Featured articles must be submitted by the 15th*. - Stewardship events must be submitted by the 26th* with event details.

| Buzzing Gardens Seed Kits Available!
Bees Matter, is offering free Buzzing Gardens seed kits to support honey bee health with flowers for nutrition. Every Buzzing Gardens seed kit contains seeds from five non-invasive varieties of flowering plants that are native to Canada and recommended by Pollinator Partnership Canada to attract and nourish honey bees. Communities in Bloom would like to know if your community is interested in receiving seed packets for distribution during local events such as Spring days, plant swapping, Environment days, community BBQs, and clean-up days. If so, please click on this
link to provide information on your activity along with quantities and dates required. The seed packets will be offered on a first come/first served basis until quantities last. Please contact Communities in Bloom for any further information at bloom@cib-ceb.com

Directions The EcoPavillion is located near Strathcona Community Garden (759 Malkin Ave). The paths heading south/west all head to the EcoPavillion. The EcoPavillion is a barn-like structure bordered by rows of espalier apple trees.
For individuals driving, street parking is available along Hawks (or Malkin).
For individuals using transit, 022 Knight bus stop is located near the intersection of Prior Street and Hawks Street as shown by the blue bus icons on the map.

Everett Crowley Park Work Party Where Entrance/Parking for Everett Crowley Park Trails, Kerr Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada Description The Everett Crowley Park Committee (ECPC) is hosting the next stewardship event on Saturday, March 9th. Come out to help remove Himalayan Blackberry and prepare sites for our Earth Festival planting in April!
Date: Saturday March 9th, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Location: Everett Crowley Park (meet at the parking lot on Kerr St)
Gloves, tools and refreshments will be provided. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes. If you are running late to the event, check the park signboard as we will post a map/directions to our work area.

Crow Roost Twilight Bike Ride Where central valley greenway at garden drive Description Join us for our annual Crow Roost Twilight Bike Ride!
NEW START LOCATION
Bring your wheels and meet other riders as we take off from the Central Valley Greenway Bike Route at GARDEN DRIVE (one block west of Nanaimo) at 5:30 pm. All riders and abilities welcome; we will have designated Ride Leaders for different paces of travel such as a kids/slow pace and an adult moderate pace.
This ride is free of charge and donations are welcome. There will be snacks and tea available by donation at the roost destination, and feel free to bring your own to share as well.
Costumes encouraged! crow / black fancydress / earth
RAIN DATE: In case of heavy rain, we will postpone to Sunday, March 10 at 6:30pm (Daylight Savings time change!). We will notify riders via this page.
This gathering takes place on the unceded, occupied, and ancestral homelands of

Homes and Neighbourhoods Low-carbon and Resilient Focus Group Where A Central Vancouver Community Centre Description The Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning (CALP) is holding a focus group on ways to make your homes and neighbourhoods low-carbon and resilient. The focus groups is for local community leaders and homeowners like you, to give us feedback on bundled energy service (providing heat-pump to replace old furnaces, electric vehicle chargers, solar panels, and other home energy upgrades) and discount buying schemes for an integrated renewable energy package for Vancouver homes. CALP is working with energy experts and city staff to develop a one-stop-shop energy retrofit bundle that makes it easy for homeowners to make their homes more sustainable. Native Planting By the Stream Where Renfrew Street and Boyd Diversion, Vancouver Description Join Still Creek Streamkeepers and Still Moon Arts Society on March 23rd at the new Renfrew Ravine Boardwalk (at the Renfrew-Boyd Diversion) for some native planting! Learn about different native plants and help them grow. Refreshments will be served. Come for the whole event or drop in anytime between 11 AM and 2 PM.
Notes: There is a staircase and a boardwalk down into the ravine. Please dress for the weather! Sturdy, close-toed shoes that can get dirty are recommended.

Small Fish and Benthic Invertebrate Sampling Where Cornett Road and Natal Street Description Join the Still Creek Streamkeepers on March 30th from 10:00AM to 1:00PM on a trip into Still Creek to get a sense of fish and benthic invertebrate populations. Led by biologist and Still Creek Streamkeeper Dave Scott, we will be on the look out for stickleback, mayflies, and much more!
Waders are recommended for going into the creek. We may have extra pairs, and there will also be activities on the shore, so don't be discouraged if you don't have any!
We will be sampling at the portion of the creek that is across from the Canadian Tire at Cornett Road and Natal Street - close to Rupert Skytrain Station.

Wonders of the Salish Sea Where Kitsilano Community Centre, Larch Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada Description The "Wonders of the Salish Sea” is being offered again this year from April 10 - May 8, 2019. This program is a great way for all your stewards to discover the wonders of the uniquely biodiverse, yet fragile, ecosystem that is our home. Evening presentations are given by an amazing array of local marine scientists, naturalists, and environmentalists. Presentations include, "The Salish Sea - A Sense of Place,” “Oceanography 101 and Plankton Dynamics”, "Kelp Forest Collapse and Recovery,” "Restoration of Rivers, Wetlands, Estuaries and Lakes,” "The History of Burrard Inlet,” “Transient or ‘Biggs' Killer Whales," "Howe Sound,“ "Earth Materials and Processes of the Salish Sea,” and “Climate Change Narratives.” For our weekend excursions we'll go to Jericho Beach Park and for a low-tide beach walk.

Planning and Leading Nature-based Programs Where Stanley Park Pavilion, Pipeline Road, Vancouver, BC, Canada Description Interested in hosting an event for Bird Week 2019?
You're invited to join us as we examine what goes into planning, promoting and leading a nature-based program, particularly as we prepare for Bird Week 2019. Facilitated by Stanley Park Ecology Society's Public Education and School Programs teams, who bring a depth of knowledge when it comes to offering nature programs to audiences young and old. At this workshop, we will outline the elements needed to create a successful event and explore how groups can tailor their environmental education programs to deliver their message. Our goal is to provide the tools necessary to run your own programming during Bird Week 2019 and beyond.
