Sense of Belonging Research - Survey Participants Invite

Calling for survey participants! We need your help to improve the inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ newcomers in our local settlement services, understand the unique challenges and barriers they face, and how we can build more welcoming spaces across the community. Your contribution will help to improve community services and newcomer settlement programs to serve the needs of queer, trans, questioning, and non-binary folks in the Tri-Cities area.

Who can participate? We are looking for:
  • immigrants, refugees, international students, and temporary workers who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, or questioning AND living or working in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, or Port Moody
  • partner or caregiver of someone who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+
  • staff of a community service provider (for example: newcomer settlement, employment services, library, child care, education, healthcare, food bank, etc.)

Take part in our short survey questionnaire. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Your participation & insights are greatly appreciated and will help build more safe spaces in our Tri-Cities community.





Multicultural Connections Festival at Lafarge Lake| Low Entropy Foundation

The annual Multicultural Connections Festival celebrates the rich tapestry of diversity and cultural heritages that make up the Tri-Cities. Explore the unique cultural arts, music, customs, foods, and languages in our communities.

There will be live entertainment featuring 14 different multicultural performances from around the globe, 15 food trucks with a variety of food from diverse cultures, and over 100 local community vendors including local artists, craftsmen/women, small businesses, and nonprofits. Learn More.





Indian Summer Festival | July 6 - 16 | Indian Summer Arts Society

This annual festival hosted by the Indian Summer Arts Society is a celebration of arts, culture, and foods featuring the South Asian communities in Metro Vancouver. The Indian Summer Festival will feature a variety of dance performances, visual arts displays, mind-opening conversations, award-winning poets, sitar maestros, tabla wizards, comedians, drag shows, musicians, and some of the city’s best new chefs!

Get Artistic in June - Tri-Cities Family Challenge Booklet

TCLIP and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is hosting a 12-month family challenge! Every month, families do an activity together and capture their memories using the Tri-Cities Family Challenge Booklet. There will be a monthly draw for families to submit their drawings, photos, or stories for a chance to win prizes! This month, go on a “colour” scavenger hunt around your home or neighborhood as a family and find items that match the colours of the rainbow. Encourage your family to hunt for different colours around your environment and experience the different emotions that they may bring up. Survey on Population Experiences, Action and Knowledge (SPEAK) | B.C. Provincial Health Services Authority

This is an opportunity to provide valuable information to the province's health authorities about how to help improve the health of your local community. The survey involves questions about social, economic, and community wellbeing, as well as physical and mental health. This year, the survey will also be asking about your experiences with extreme weather and other impacts of climate change. Help build resiliency and well-being in our communities by participating in the SPEAK survey. 

The survey takes approximately 20 minutes and can be done online on any tablet, computer, or mobile device. It is open to all British Columbians 18 years of age and older. Learn more
