ITS NOT TOO LATE - Indigenous Party registration in Victoria
ITS NOT TOO LATE
To help us get registered in Victoria for the State election
As a member of the Indigenous-Aboriginal Party of Australia (IAPA), you probably know we are urgently contacting you and the 500+ other members we submitted to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) for confirmation of their membership.... one of the requirements to become a registered State party for the next election.
Due to the flood situation in Victoria the VEC have given us an extension until 26th October, to have 500 Confirmation of Memberships submitted.
Have you submitted your form yet?
2-minute read and how you can help
This is what the Membership Confirmation form looks like. It takes 2 minutes to complete
IF YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR FORM a big THANK YOU
IF YOUR FORM IS IN YOUR PILE OF 'THINGS TO DO' please send in asap
IF YOU DIDN'T GET A FORM or have lost it, see below
IF YOU HAVE THE FORM - but haven't completed and returned it yet
If you still have your membership confirmation form please FILL & SIGN (It's very short), take a good PHONE PHOTO of it (or scan) and EMAIL it to: rppregistration@vec.vic.gov.au
IF YOU DIDN'T GET A FORM - or have lost it
Email rppregistration@vec.vic.gov.auand ask for a new one. Provide your name, address, and the Party name, etc. so they can identify you.
Let us know
If you don't mind you could cc indigenouspartyofaustralia@gmail.com so we can keep a track of how many forms have been sent into the VEC. It will also help us to not contact you again on this matter unnecessarily. The VEC will not tell us who has responded, only the number of responses.
As at Friday 14th October 274 responses sent back to VEC. We need at least 500.
If 500 forms are received, then the VEC will make sure all of those members who have responded are on the electoral roll and their details match those on the form submitted. The VEC don't tell us who has responded and who hasn't.
What if we don't get the 500?
IAPA will not have met requirements as laid out in the VEC guidelines for Registration of a Political Party
We can try to get registered again, in 6 months' time, starting the process right from the start... submitting a list of members
etc.
Will IAPA have any candidates at the November State election?
We have at least one confirmed candidate who, if we don't get registered, will stand as an 'independent' with the Party's endorsement which at the very least will keep progress and recognition ticking along. And of course, you know we have Federal registration so we can run candidates in Victoria in 2 1/2 years or so as well as in any by-elections which might come along.
How can I get involved?
If you would like to be involved and do more hands-on type of assistance for this grassroots party, you are very welcome. Our party encourages anyone to get involved, we believe in Community, Communication and Unity of people from all backgrounds. We will be having meetings at a library in Brunswick on Monday evenings.

Young Baarkindji woman, Laylah Al Saimary.
Layla will run as an Independent in November State election if we don't manage to get registered. However, it would be a shame not to have her run under the banner of the Indigenous- Aboriginal Party of Australia.
Laylah's main priorities include - Alternative education for school refusers of all backgrounds. Mental Health support in our regions for Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.
